Over the years, the sport has become increasingly popular, especially amongst skateboarders and wave surfers. Sierra Nevada has an on-slope half-pipe and a snowboard park (located above Borreguiles). There is also a snowboard school and plenty of shops where you can rent out equipment. People are allowed to snowboard anywhere on the mountain. More experienced riders often to head of to Laguna de Yeguas. Here you can go off-piste, drop down and manoeuvre your way through untouched mountain ridges.
The Sierra Nevada is suitable for every kind of snowboarding, and perfect for the boarder at intermediate level. There is an area sectioned off for beginners and experts can find challenges in the more ungroomed areas.
For advanced beginners and intermediates this is Nirvana. The groomed trails are perfect for this level; not too easy, not too intense, just long, smooth and spacious surfing.
High season: Christmas/New Year, mid February, and Easter.
Middle season: late January, early and late February, and March.
Low season: early December and most of January.
Weekends, holiday periods and bank holidays generally draw bigger crowds. |
