The Sierra Nevada is a biosphere reserve, and a National Park. It is a place where nature lovers can enjoy endless outdoor activities. Hiking and sight seeing along the carefully made trails are some of the best ways to enjoy the scenery and at the same time, respect and take care of the natural environment. Of all the distinct hiking and sight seeing routes of the Sierra Nevada, we recommend the "Vereda de la Estrella," and the "Integral de Sierra Nevada." (this is the hardest trail as you have to pass by Mulhacen and El Veleta, two mountain peaks above 3,000 meters in altitude). For this trail, you don't have to be an expert or have special equipment, but you should be in good physical shape for the demands of this trail, especially around the Ruta Sulayr, with an extention above 300 km.
Along these routes, we find resting spots such as the Poqueira, at 2,500 metres altitude, El Postero at 1,800 metres altitude, El Chullo, among others.
Also, there are other natural refuges along the different trails.
