Sierra de Huétor was declared a Natural Park in 1989.

There are numerous plant species here that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

It is located in the centre of the province and is between 1,100 and 1,675 metres above sea level. It is a mountainous area, covering 12,428 hectares and with a population of approximately 10,000 people.

In this large area, you will find species of oak tree along with gall oaks in the higher up regions. You will also find species of mountain goat, wild boar, badger, marten and royal eagle co-existing here.
